The home of independent shopping where we support small businesses to reach their audience

ABOUT US
The Hummingbird Collective is a bespoke space for makers, creators, crafters and artisans including small independent businesses. It provides a supportive environment for each member to achieve their trading goals and begin their retail journey. No matter how small or large your aspirations!
The collective opened its very first location in Wakefield in November 2023 inside The Ridings Shopping centre. A second store was opened in Bawtry on a short-term lease in March 2024, followed by a store in Sheffield on 13 July and another at Elsecar Heritage Centre the day after, in the same year. The day after these 2 stores opened Nicola underwent stoma reversal surgery. Timing was well planned! Fast forward to August 2025 and the largest store to date was opened at Market Place, Retford, swiftly followed by a smaller satellite store inside an old barn based at Manor Farm Oldcotes, Nottinghamshire.
As with all businesses, unforeseen circumstances occurred and sadly the Manor Farm store became unviable for our business model and the historic nature of the site. This store closed in January 2026 and a month later the news was received that The Ridings Shopping Centre would be closed also.
Plans are underway to open a store in Newark in the coming weeks. Other projects include an Autumn Surprise at a prestigious location which will be announced later in the year. The future looks promising and the Hummingbird brand is expanding with the most recent acquisition of The Hummingbird Hub, a central place for all members, business networking, workshops and classes and much much more.
Membership in a collective may not be suitable for everyone. However, for those passionate about their work and who enjoy connecting with others who share that passion, it is a valuable opportunity.
OUR STORES

BE A PART OF THE COLLECTIVE
For those unfamiliar with the concept, a collective is essentially a shared space for crafters, makers, and creators to come together.
Each participant rents their own area within the shop to display their products, create, and collaborate with like-minded small businesses. This setup allows members to reach new audiences and regular customers while building a community of people who value their work.
We do not operate on a "rent-a-shelf" basis and do not take commissions. Instead, we aim to create a model that suits your circumstances, finances, and lifestyle commitments.
